Victoria Police Department officers crashed their vehicles into each other while responding to “a priority call for service” Friday morning, the department says.

No members of the public were involved in the collision, which caused no serious injuries, according to a news release from the VicPD.

Images from the scene show two marked police vehicles—an SUV and a pickup truck—with significant damage in the middle of the intersection of Caledonia Avenue and Blanshard Street.

The SUV’s front-end is crumpled, while the truck’s passenger-side is damaged and its airbags have been deployed.

The collision happened around 9:15 a.m., according to police, who said the intersection would remain closed “for a period of time, while investigators complete scene examination and reconstruction work.”

“Drivers are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes,” the release reads.

“VicPD would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation while the investigation is underway.”
