Sudbury family dealing with ‘unimaginable grief’ after young girl’s death

A Sudbury youth is dead after being struck by a vehicle shortly after school ended at the Palace Place Co-op in Minnow Lake.

The family of a six-year-old girl who was killed earlier this week in Minnow Lake is raising money to help pay expenses related to the tragedy.

Havyn Winter was killed May 19 not long after getting off her school bus at the Palace Place Coop off of Second Avenue.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family.

“Havyn was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew her,” said the post on the fundraising page.

“She loved life with her whole heart and brought happiness everywhere she went. She was best friends with her mom and her brother, Harlynd, and the bond they shared was filled with love, laughter, and endless memories.”

The tragedy took place around 3:30 p.m. when the young girl was hit by a car while walking to her home in the coop.

Sudbury police have said a lengthy investigation will take place before any decision is made on whether to lay charges.

“Havyn loved to sing and dance, and her smile could light up any room,” the post said.

“She adored K-pop, Monster High and spending time talking to Alexa about life and the world around her. She was curious, funny, caring, and always full of joy. Even at such a young age, Havyn had a way of making people feel loved and understood.”

The family is dealing with “this unimaginable tragedy and overwhelming grief,” the post said.

“We are coming together to help support them during this painful time. No parent should have to carry the weight of financial stress while mourning the loss of their child.”

The family is looking to raise money “to help ease the burden on Havyn’s family as they navigate funeral expenses and the difficult days ahead.”
