Drivers charged with stunt driving in Windsor and Essex after clocked at extreme speeds

A couple of local drivers are facing licence suspensions after traffic stops on Thursday.

In Windsor, a motorist was stopped for travelling 104 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

The driver was stopped in the 2300 block of Howard Avenue, just south of Tecumseh Road East.

Police say the 24-year-old G2 licenced driver had his vehicle impounded for 14 days and licenced suspended for 30 days.

In Essex, a 21-year-old has been charged with stunt driving.

OPP say shortly before 11 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 3.

According to police, the driver was clocked going 145 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

The driver from Windsor has been charged with stunt driving, and driving without a valid permit.

The accused is scheduled to appear in a Windsor court in June to answer to the charges.

Their licence has been suspended for 30 days, and their vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.
