Police seek information after indecent acts in Sooke

Mounties in Sooke are asking the public for help as they investigate a pair of indecent acts reported in the district last month.

The first incident occurred at Otter Point Park on March 23, Sooke RCMP said in a news release Tuesday, nearly a month after the fact.

On that date, a woman called police to report that she had been followed by a man who had his hand down his pants.

“Efforts to locate the man at the time were unsuccessful,” the release reads.

A few days later, on March 27, police received a report that “a man was allegedly masturbating in the woods at Gordons Beach near the 8600 block of West Coast Road.”

Police said the suspect “was interrupted by a member of the public and left the area.”

The description of the suspect in both incidents was the same, according to Mounties.

They described him as a white man in his 20s with a slim build, brown hair and a beard. He stands approximately 5′9″ and was wearing a black jacket, black pants and “large orange glasses,” police said.

They also said the suspect was associated with a small black SUV, “possibly a 1999-2006 GMC Jimmy or Chevrolet Blazer.”

Police did not share any photos or sketches of the suspect or his vehicle.
