Homicide team deployed after victim gunned down in Langley, B.C.

Homicide investigators have been deployed after police were called to reports of gunfire Tuesday night.

Homicide investigators have been deployed to Langley, B.C., after police were called to reports of gunfire Tuesday night and found one person with fatal injuries.

The Langley RCMP says officers responded to a complaint of shots fired in the 5400 block of Brydon Crescent shortly after 11:30 p.m.

First responders, including paramedics and firefighters, found one victim in medical distress. “Despite life-saving efforts, the individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP in a statement.

The Lower Mainland’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called to probe the killing.

2nd shooting on same block

The deadly shooting was the second instance of gunfire in the same block of Brydon Crescent in as many weeks.

On May 16, a 27-year-old man was hospitalized after what the Langley RCMP described as a targeted daylight shooting in the area.

Police have not said whether the two incidents are connected.

Investigators are canvassing the neighbourhood and speaking with witnesses Wednesday as they work to determine what led to the latest shooting.

Police said the investigation remains in its early stages and further updates will come from the homicide team.
