Vehicle fire closes lanes on Hwy. 417 in Ottawa during rush hour

A vehicle fire caused some delays for commuters on Highway 417 in Ottawa on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the westbound lanes of the highway near Parkdale Avenue just after 4 p.m.

The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario said two right lanes and the right shoulder were closed as a result. They reopened about 30 minutes later.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames coming from the front of the vehicle before the damaged car was towed away.

No injuries have been reported. Ottawa paramedics said they were not called to the scene.
