Speeding tractor-trailer, stunt driving keep northwestern Ont. police busy

A tractor-trailer driver has been charged with speeding after police in Dryden said they stopped the vehicle when it was travelling 90 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

The driver was also charged with “additional documentation-related violations,” police said.

“Speeding at this level poses a serious risk to everyone on the road -- including pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists.”

In a separate incident, police in Ignace say they stopped a driver who was clocked driving 147 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.

“The driver was charged with stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act,” police said.

The suspect’s driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

“Speeding is one of the leading causes of preventable collisions,” police said.

“Slow down, stay alert and help keep our roads safe for everyone.”
