Heat warnings persist in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent

An orange heat warning is still in effect for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.

Environment Canada says some areas could see temperatures up to 37 C, with minimum temperatures of 21 C to 25 C, offering little relief. This is expected to continue through Friday and potentially the weekend.

You are reminded to protect yourself and others from heat. Check on older people, anyone who lives alone, and at-risk people. You should also watch for early signs of heat exhaustion, which include headaches, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine, and intense fatigue. If this happens, stop what you are doing and drink water.

If you or someone around you is showing signs of heat stroke, call 911 or your emergency health provider. Those signs include red and hot skin, dizziness, nausea, confusion, and change in consciousness. While waiting for medical attention, take the person to a cool place, remove any extra clothing, and use cold water or ice packs around the body.
