Saskatoon man threatened with hatchet and robbed, police say

A Saskatoon man is facing charges related to an attempted robbery this week.

Police say they received a call about a robbery in progress on the 600 block of Spadina Crescent at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

The alleged victim reported he had been sitting on a park bench when an unknown man approached him and demanded his phone, threatening him with a hatchet.

According to a news release, the victim was able to flee the area and call the police, who managed to locate the suspect.

As a result, a 33-year-old man faces charges for robbery and breach of court conditions.
