Highway 16 partially reopened after rockslide near Jasper townsite

Highway 16 near Jasper National Park was closed in both directions after a rock slide early Saturday morning.

A portion of Highway 16 has partially reopened with one alternating lane following a rockslide about 12 kilometres west of the town of Jasper early Saturday morning.

RCMP are still asking the public to avoid unnecessary travel in the area and to expect delays while crews work to clear the area.

There were no reports of injuries or vehicles damaged in the rock slide.

An update will be made once more information becomes available.
