Officers deploy tire deflation device in attempt to catch dangerous driver: Police

A 32-year-old man from The Blue Mountains is facing several charges after he allegedly failed to stop for and flee from police more than once.

Collingwood OPP says on Monday at around 10 p.m., officers tried to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation near Highway 26.

According to police, the man who was driving the vehicle kept going. On the second attempt to avoid officers, the vehicle allegedly collided with a police cruiser.

Police say when they deployed a tire deflation device, the man fled on foot.

Investigators found the driver the next day and arrested him.

The man is facing charges of dangerous operation, flight from police, failure to stop after an accident, failure to comply with a probation order and taking a motor vehicle without consent.

The accused is set to appear in court at a later date.
