Back in business: Lake of Bays Community Centre reopens

After weeks of troubles, the Lake of Bays Community Centre is open and indoor programming is resuming, according to the Township.

Troubles began at the Lake of Bays Community Centre and Baysville Public Library in early May, when a ground issue was discovered during maintenance work being done on the building’s heating and cooling systems.

As a result of that, programming was previously suspended, as was access to the community centre floor, the arena floor and library.

In the following days, the library, community centre floor and programming slowly returned, but in a statement on Tuesday, the township announced a full reopen arena floor, which was the last of amenities to reopen.

Although internal programming has returned, residents are asked to access the facility via Carol Street, as parts of the parking lot are still fenced off due to on going geothermal work.

A full report on the matter will be presented to council once the work is completed.
