Two Windsor-Essex beaches safe for swimming, five under warning

Five Windsor-Essex beaches are under warning, while only two in the area are deemed safe for swimming this weekend.

According to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, Cedar Beach, Cedar Island Beach, Holiday Beach, Lakeshore Lakeview Park West Beach, and Seacliff Beach are all under warnings for high bacteria levels.

The only local beaches that are safe for swimming this weekend are Colchester Beach and Point Pelee North West Beach.

WECHU notes that even though beaches might be open, they recommend avoiding swimming if there was recent heavy rainfall, allowing at least 48 hours after, if the water is cloudy, or if you can’t see your feet while in the water.
