Two men charged in the Sault after weekend assault

Within four days this week, police in Sault Ste. Marie charged two men wanted in connection with vicious assault June 13.

“911 Communicators received multiple reports of masked people entering a residence in the 700 block of Wellington Street West and assaulting someone,” police said in a news release Friday.

“Following a verbal altercation earlier in the evening both accused attended the victim’s residence, disguised their faces with balaclavas, entered the residence, and assaulted them multiple times.”

The victim sustained serious physical injuries and was transported to hospital and police said the victim and accused are known to one another.

Officers picked up a 41-year-old man June 14, while a 40-year-old man turned himself in to police Wednesday. They face charges of assault causing bodily harm, break and enter, and other offences, police said.

Both men were held in custody pending bail hearings.
