Nearly $23M announced by province in support of active seniors’ programs

Province announcing $22.8M for senior active living programs across Ontario

Ontario is investing $22.8 million to support seniors across the province through seniors’ active living centre programs.

The announcement was made at Life After Fifty in Windsor, one of the first senior active living centres in the province, as the program marks it’s sixtieth anniversary.

The funding will support more than 400 senior programs that offer recreational, social and wellness activities aimed at helping seniors stay healthy and active.

The announcement also kicks off Seniors Month in Ontario.

Seniors and Accessibility Minister Raymond Cho says the province is proud to continue expanding services like this one.

“The amount is $110,000. We get $55,000 for both centers. And it helps because we’re able to provide, lots of fitness programs, social programs, as well as educational workshops for the seniors in the community, because we have to continue to thrive even though age is upon us,” said Life After 50 Executive Director Tom Wilson.
