19-year-old Dresden man facing assault charges

Chatham-Kent police have charged a 19-year-old Dresden man who allegedly brandished a knife during a dispute.

On Sunday at 5:24 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at a home on St. George Street in Dresden.

Through investigation, police learned the accused allegedly brandished a knife during a verbal dispute, uttered threats, and advanced toward the victim while armed. The victim and a witness were able to retreat safely and contact police.

Officers later attended the home and arrested the accused without incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old Dresden man has been charged with:

• Breach of Recognizance
• Uttering threats to Cause Death
• Assault with a weapon
• Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
