‘Near-zero visibility’ fog warning issued for northern B.C. coast

Commuters are being warned of hazardous travel conditions on B.C.’s northwestern coast Monday morning due to heavy fog.

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a fog advisory for Prince Rupert and parts of Highway 16, calling for “near-zero visibility” in some areas.

“Be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility and allow extra time to reach your destination. If driving, turn on your lights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance,” the notice reads.

The weather agency says conditions are expected to improve late Monday morning.
