Regina police ask public for tips in vehicle arson investigation

The Regina Police Service (RPS) is asking the public for tips to help them identify the suspect in a vehicle arson investigation that took place in east Regina.

Officers, along with Regina Fire and Protective Services, were called to a residence on East Sandpiper Crescent for a report of a vehicle fire in the early hours of April 16.

Police determined the fire had been deliberately set and opened an arson investigation.

Photos submitted to CTV News showed a truck engulfed in flames on East Sandpiper Crescent as fire crews attempted to put out the blaze.

Investigators are asking anyone with video surveillance or information about suspicious activity in the area on April 16 to contact RPS or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.

Police say video security footage is a crucial part of these types of investigations. Because of that, they offer a free program called the Safe Neighbourhood Camera Registry through the Community ON Crime Prevention Initiative to allow residents to register the presence of security cameras on their property.

This is the second vehicle deliberately set on fire incident in Regina this month.
