New Fire Chief in Saugeen Shores

The Town of Saugeen Shores has announced a new Fire Chief.

Rob Atkinson is the new Director of Fire Services and Fire Chief.

Atkinson began with Saugeen Shores in 2003 as a volunteer firefighter, joining fulltime in 2006. He then moved into a fulltime position of Fire Prevention Officer, then becoming the deputy chief in 2022.

“With more than 23 years of experience in fire services, Rob brings extensive knowledge and expertise to the role,” the town said.

He will begin the role on Monday and be formally appointed on July 6.

Saugeen Shores gives its congratulations to Chief Ed Melanson, who is joining the City of Niagara Falls.
