Information wanted to assist St. Thomas assault investigation

The St. Thomas police are investigating a serious assault that took place in the city on Thursday.

Around 3:15 p.m. near Talbot Street and Moore Street, a 911 call was received that a person was assaulted by two men, who then left in a grey sedan.

Police said they arrived and found a 16-year-old with serious head injuries. He was taken to hospital.

Through an investigation, police said it was not a random incident.

“Investigators believe it stemmed from an earlier interaction involving the victim and a dog in the area of Princess Avenue,” police wrote in a news release.

“A short time later, the victim was confronted and assaulted.”

There is no threat to public safety.

The public is asked to review video surveillance for anything suspicious in the area between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to contact St. Thomas police at 519-631-1224. Anonymous tips can also be sent through Crime Stoppers.
