Flood warning for community of Pinkerton

A flood warning is in effect for Pinkerton.

Some homes in the Bruce County village of Pinkerton, near Walkerton, are being ravaged by flood waters today.

Water from the Teeswater River has spilled its banks, crossed over Bruce County Road 15, and running through people’s front and backyards, in Pinkerton, which is north of Walkerton.

A section of Bruce Road 15, through Pinkerton, has been closed as a result of the flood. The Saugeen Conservation Authority says the flood conditions “could exist for an extended duration as water levels in the Teeswater River remain high. Residents of Pinkerton are advised to closely monitor conditions and follow direction from municipal and county staff and emergency services.”

An incredibly rapid snow melt, combined with a deluge of rain earlier this week, has led to flood warnings and watches, and hundreds of flooded basements across Midwestern Ontario this week.

A flood warning for the entirety of the Municipality of Brockton, which includes Pinkerton and Walkerton remains in effect, although conditions are improving in the Silver Creek area as water levels are beginning to drop. Flood watches in places like Lucknow have been dropped as conditions improve.
