Brothers living with epilepsy named Children’s Health Foundation 2026 Champion Children

Two brothers have been named as 2026 Champion Children to represent Children’s Hospital. CTV’s Reta Ismail with the story.

Two young brothers living with epilepsy are being recognized for their courage while helping shine a light on the care provided at Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).

Colton Earhart, 10, and his younger brother Lochlan, 7, have been named the 2026 Champion Children for Children’s Health Foundation.

In the role, the brothers will serve as ambassadors for thousands of young patients who rely on the hospital for specialized care each year.

Their mother, Paige Earhart, says both boys have faced significant medical challenges since they were very young.

“They’re incredible. They’ve had quite the medical journey since they were very, very little,” she said. “Lochlan since he was born and Colton since he was about six months old.”

Medication now helps control Colton’s seizures. Lochlan, however, was diagnosed with drug-resistant epilepsy and continues to work closely with specialists to explore treatment options.

Despite the obstacles, their family says the brothers are determined not to let the condition define them.

With support from doctors, nurses and child life specialists at the hospital, both boys continue to enjoy many of the same activities as their peers.

“Colton plays hockey and baseball during the summer,” said Paige. “And Lochlan I get is so determined. And he has such a love for hockey and baseball, and we weren’t sure if he could even stand up and skate. And this year, he plays for his minor hockey team. And he’s an incredible goalie.”

As Champion Children, Colton and Lochlan will represent patients and families connected to the hospital while helping raise awareness about the role community donations play in supporting programs and equipment.

“I feel excited but also a bit nervous at the same time,” Colton said about the honour.

For outgoing Champion Child Lauren Taylor, it has been an “honour” to represent.

“It was amazing. There were so many opportunities. It was one of the best years to represent Children’s Hospital. I got to meet so many new people,” Taylor said.

Scott Fortnum, president and CEO of Children’s Health Foundation, says sharing stories like the Earhart brothers’ helps highlight the impact of donor support.

“We want people to understand the incredible work that is done at Children’s Hospital,” he said. “And we want to understand the incredibly important role the donors make to help make all of these things happen.”

For their mother, seeing her sons recognized for their resilience is a moment she says once felt uncertain.

Now, their story is helping bring attention to the care and support available for children and families facing serious medical conditions in the region.
