Wellington OPP respond to ‘active incident’ outside of Erin

Wellington OPP say they're investigating an active incident outside of Erin.

Ontario Provincial Police said they responded to an “active incident” Thursday afternoon outside of Erin.

Just before 3 p.m., they warned residents of an increased police presence in the area of Highway 124, between Trafalgar Road and Patrick Drive.

OPP confirmed there was no threat to public safety in an email to CTV News.

An updated message, posted to social media about an hour later, said there was no longer a heavy police presence in the area and Wellington OPP thanked the public for their patience.

No further details about the nature of the incident have been shared.
