KW Titans look to start BSL Finals strong in search of first championship

The KW Titans are hoping to finally get over the championship hump, as they will face off against the Sudbury Five in the Basketball Super League (BSL) Finals.

The team has been to two finals, once for the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) in 2021-2022 and once with the BSL in 2023-2024. Both times they lost to the London Lightning.

The Titans finished first in the regular season, with a 19-7 record. In the semi-final, the Titans clinched their ticket to the finals with a 3-1 series win over the Windsor Express.

The Sudbury Five, who will play the Titans in the final, finishing second overall with a record of 18-9, and then winning their semi-final series 3-1 over the Montreal Tundra.

The championship run is not the Five’s first, as they won the Super Lillie Trophy last season, edging out the Windsor Express in five games. They are now looking to be the first repeat BSL champions.

The defending champions will start their series in enemy territory, with Games 1 and 2 held at The Aud in Kitchener.

The Titans, meantime, are looking to secure their first-ever championship.

Tip-off for Game 1 is at 7:00 p.m., and Game 2 is Sunday, Apr. 19 at 3:00 p.m.
