Grand River Conservation Authority issues local flood warnings

The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) issued flood warnings and watches for Waterloo Region on Wednesday.

The alert followed two days of storms, with 20 to 50 mm of rain falling across the watershed.

Kitchener and West Montrose are now under a flood warning, while flood watches are in place for New Hamburg and Ayr.

The spring showers are expected to continue into Thursday, with another 20 mm of precipitation anticipated over an 48-hour period.

The GRCA said low-level areas may also flood. Residents were urged to monitor weather conditions and take any appropriate precautions.

The warning and watches will remain in place until Monday, April 20.
