Bulldogs defeat Battalion in double-overtime thriller

The Brantford Bulldogs took a commanding lead against the North Bay Battalion in their Ontario Hockey League Eastern Conference semifinal series Sunday, defeating the North Bay Battalion 3-2 in double overtime.

The win gives Brantford a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-seven series.

North Bay got off to a hot start, with the Battalion’s Cam Warren scoring just 34 seconds into the first, taking the 1-0 lead into intermission.

The Bulldogs responded in the second, with Charlie Paquette scoring his first goal of the post-season.

The Bulldogs controlled much of the period, outshooting North Bay 15-2, but were unable to take the lead.

North Bay regained the lead midway through the third period when Ethan Procyszyn scored on a two-on-one.

With less than two to go, Adam Panek found the equalizer for Brantford, which sent the game to overtime.

Both teams exchanged chances in the first overtime period.

The game would not see a third overtime, with Brantford’s Ben Danford scoring his first goal of the playoffs.

The Bulldogs will look to complete the series sweep in Game 4 Tuesday night in North Bay.
