Police arrest alleged drug traffickers in Innisfil

After a months-long, combined police agencies made two drugs and weapons arrests in Innisfil.

The Nottawasaga Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Collingwood and Huronia West CSCU’s and the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), arrested two people following a drug trafficking investigation throughout Simcoe County.

On May 21, officers executed a search warrant at a home in Innisfil where a man and woman were taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the search, officers seized:

• A 9mm handgun with two magazines
• 2 x replica handguns
• 22 grams of psilocybin
• 7.5 grams of MDMA
• A butterfly knife
• $1,215 in currency
• Cellular device

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Innisfil man, was charged with:

• Possession of for the purpose of trafficking
• Unauthorized possession of a weapon
• Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
• Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
• Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
• Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
• Three counts of failing to comply with release order

A 31-year-old Innisfil woman was charged with:

• Possession of for the purpose of trafficking
• Unauthorized possession of a weapon
• Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
• Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

The man was held pending a bail hearing and the woman was released with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford.
