E-scooter driver charged with impaired

A Collingwood man, 37, has been charged with impaired driving while on an electric scooter.

Collingwood and The Blue Mountains officers were doing a general patrol around Ste. Marie Street and George Street in Collingwood when they noticed an electric scooter allegedly driving in the middle of the road.

Police pulled over the driver, which then led to an impaired driving investigation.

The man was arrested and charged with operation while impaired with alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.

The man’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused will appear in court at a later date.

OPP is reminding drivers operating any motor vehicle, including electric scooters, while impaired poses a significant risk to both the driver and the public.
