2 Nova Scotia bars among the best in Canada, according to new list

A list of Canada’s 50 best bars has been released and two from Nova Scotia are on the list.

Canada’s 100 Best is sharing its eighth annual list, putting a spotlight on the country’s “most exceptional drinking destinations.”

The magazine says it asked a panel of judges to rank their five top bar experiences over the last 16 months.

It says the 2026 list is the most diverse yet, and features bar scenes from coast to coast.

The Narrows Public House on Gottingen Street in Halifax claimed the twelfth spot on the list.

Canada’s 100 Best recommends visitors try the Scotch Tea Highballs or a Pimm’s Cup and sit at the front bay-window booth for the best seat in the house.

Dear Friend Bar on Portland Street in Dartmouth, N.S., is not far behind on the list, coming in at No. 15.

“The food menu highlights East Coast treasures, like fresh scallops in almond milk and marinated mussels with crunchy pangrattato,” it reads.

The magazine suggests people try the Community Cocktail paired with an oyster dish. The bar donates $10 from each order to the Feeding Others of Dartmouth Society.
