5 people arrested following drug investigation on Esgenoopetitj First Nation

Several people were arrested on Esgenoopetitj First Nation earlier this week following a lengthy drug investigation.

The RCMP says departments in Neguac and Tracadie, N.B., began the investigation back in October 2025.

Officers arrested a man at a home on Lawrence Crescent in Esgenoopetitj around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Four other people were also arrested but they were later released.

A K9 team and a Community Crime Reduction Unit then helped search the home and a vehicle.

Police say they found what is believed to be cocaine as well as drug paraphernalia and drug trafficking items.

The 53-year-old man from Esgenoopetitj First Nation was later released from custody. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Police say their investigation is ongoing.
