A 40-year-old woman is facing charges after allegedly running over another woman with her vehicle.

The incident stemmed from a dispute over a parking spot on Saturday afternoon at a recreational facility on St. James Street.

Winnipeg police said the victim, a woman in her 30s, was standing in a parking spot around 2:30 p.m. Police said she was saving the stall for her family who were driving through the parking lot.

Police said another vehicle arrived at the spot first, and the 40-year-old female driver began arguing with the victim over saving the spot.

“The driver then proceeded to drive into the parking stall, knocking the female to the ground, where she became trapped under the front tires of the SUV,” police said in a release Sunday.

The vehicle took off with “no concern” for the victim, who was taken to hospital in stable condition with lower body injuries.

Police were able to identify the driver and arrested her.

She’s facing charges of assault with a weapon and driving carelessly under the Highway Traffic Act.

She was released on an undertaking.
