Stolen batteries, solar panels, recovered by RCMP; suspect arrested

A 35-year-old man is facing charges after a slew of stolen batteries and solar panels were found in Winnipeg.

On April 2, Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of batteries used for large roadway notification signs being stolen from a property in West St. Paul.

Mounties investigated, and a day later, a search warrant was executed at a home on Lincoln Avenue in Winnipeg.

A total of 26 batteries were recovered, along with 11 commercial solar panels. The estimated value of the items is roughly $25,000.

The suspect, from the RM of Springfield, was arrested at the scene. He is facing charges of possession of stolen property and trafficking stolen property. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Selkirk on May 23.

The investigation continues.
