Conspiracy to commit murder charge laid against Manitoba teen who allegedly planned school attack: RCMP

A 14-year-old in Manitoba and a 15-year-old in Nova Scotia are facing charges after allegedly plotting school attacks. CTV's Jon Hendricks explains.

Manitoba RCMP have laid additional charges against a 14-year-old boy who allegedly planned an attack at a rural school earlier this year.

On Wednesday, RCMP re-arrested the youth, who was in custody at the Manitoba Youth Centre, charging him with conspiracy to commit murder, counselling the offence of murder and two counts of uttering threats. The additional charges were laid following further investigation, Mounties said in a news release.

The youth, who cannot be named, was charged with uttering threats at the time of his arrest in March.

RCMP allege the 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl from Bridgewater, N.S., met online and were allegedly planning simultaneous attacks at Rivers Collegiate in Rivers, Man., and the Parkview Education Centre in Bridgewater.

The female suspect was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and uttering threats.

The male suspect makes his next court appearance on June 4.

None of the charges against either of the accused have been proven in court.
