Colleen Bready’s Forecast: Sunny start leads to cloudy end

Published:

Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for March 7, 2025.

A sunny start to Friday afternoon will give way to cloudy skies over the course of the day in southern Manitoba.

Temperatures will remain below freezing, but not by much, especially in the southwest. Brandon should climb to a cloudy high of -2 C, while temperatures should reach -5 C in Winnipeg, as the sunshine lingers longer in the southeast.

Meanwhile, another day, another round of light snow is crossing northern Manitoba Friday afternoon. Little accumulation is expected in most areas. The highest forecast amounts are for Flin Flon and The Pas, where 2-4 cm of snowfall is possible before ending Friday evening.

Winnipeg and the southeast could be clipped by flurries or light snow late Friday night as snow moves into northwestern Ontario overnight into Saturday morning.

Back in southern Manitoba, Saturday will start off cloudy before some sunshine returns later in the day. Northern regions can expect the opposite.

Temperatures in the south should climb above the freezing mark on Saturday before soaring higher on Sunday.

Daytime highs will remain below freezing throughout the weekend for much of the north, closer to normal for early March.

This weekend will also be an hour shorter when we spring forward an hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday into Daylight Saving Time.

Looking ahead to Monday, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said a low forecast to cross the southern Prairies could bring enough snow to warrant a snowfall warning for central Manitoba.
