As January comes to a close later this week, above seasonal temperatures continue on Wednesday in Winnipeg.
Across southern Manitoba, daytime highs will rise close to the freezing mark in the afternoon. Most areas are forecast to reach between -2 C and – 5 C, with the slightly milder temperatures expected in the southwest.
Mild temperatures will come with cloudy skies on Wednesday afternoon.
Temperatures across northern regions won’t rise nearly as high on Wednesday, with a colder air mass in place.
Temperatures will range from the upper minus twenties to the mid minus teens.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has kept an extreme cold warning in effect on Wednesday for the Tadoule Lake region.
The weather agency said conditions there are expected to moderate in the afternoon, but extreme cold is expected to return Wednesday night and is likely at times through the rest of the week.
Flin Flon and The Pas, on the other hand, will enjoy the same mild conditions as southern regions.
Snow is possible across the northwest on Wednesday, while the sun will shine on the northeast where conditions are coldest.
Ahead on Wednesday night, overnight lows across the south will remain warmer than normal daytime highs for this time of year.
Thursday will remain mild in Winnipeg before a big drop in temperatures on Friday – the last day of January.
It’s a brief dip, though. Mild temperatures and snow return on Saturday to start the month of February.
