Colleen Bready’s forecast: Another round of snow headed to Manitoba

Another day, another round of snow is heading toward southern Manitoba on Tuesday.

A relatively weak system will begin to spread light snow in Brandon and surrounding regions late Tuesday afternoon before tapering off later tonight.

Meanwhile, the sunny start to the day in Winnipeg will turn cloudy in the afternoon.

It is possible light snow could reach the city and the Red River Valley by late Tuesday night, but it should be a light dusting, at most.

Temperatures will remain below freezing Tuesday in the wake of a much more potent low pressure system that crossed the province on Monday.

Daytime highs in the south will range in most areas between -4 C and -8 C, with Brandon and Winnipeg forecast to reach -5 C. Overnight lows won’t fall far across the south, only dropping off a few degrees.

In the north, most regions will bask in sunshine or a mix of sun and clouds on Tuesday. Churchill is the lone holdout with light snow likely.

Temperatures are well below normal, though. Areas furthest north will only reach the -20s, while other communities will see highs in the mid-minus teens.

Many northern regions will need to brace for another cold night ahead with lows expected to drop to around -28 C, which is quite cold for mid-March.

Later this week, there is a possibility of a more potent low pressure system moving through parts of southern Manitoba.

Winnipeg could see rain showers or snow showers on Friday, with snow intensifying Friday night. It’s still too early to forecast with much certainty, but worth watching closely.
