Winnipeg police are investigating a fight that broke out in the Marion Hotel parking lot early Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the area just before 2:30 a.m.

Police say the fight escalated and several people were bear sprayed, and a 31-year-old woman was assaulted with a weapon. She was taken to hospital in unstable condition, but later upgraded to stable.

Five people were treated for the effects of bear spray on-scene and were released.

Police say the suspects ran off before officers got there. Officers could not tell CTV News whether the victims and suspects knew each other, or what may have led up to the fight.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Crimes Unit or Crime Stoppers.
