Rain-snow mix Saturday before temperatures plummet

Environment Canada (EC) is warning residents across the region to be prepared for very cold conditions next week.

According to EC, temperatures may be colder than we’ve seen in years.

Before the deep freeze, Saturday sees a mix of snow and rain, changing to snow with a chance of flurries in the afternoon. Temperature falling to minus 4 in the afternoon, feeling like minus 9.

Saturday night will remain cloudy with a low of minus 10, feeling like minus 15.

Sunday will see a mix of sun and cloud with flurries expected and a high of minus 5, feeling like minus 15.

Monday, temperature drops for much of the week, with a high of minus 13 forecast.

Here’s a look at the Windsor-Essex region’s forecast

Saturday: Rain mixed with snow this morning and ending this afternoon then cloudy with 30 per cent chance of flurries. Snowfall amount 5 cm. Wind southwest 30 km/h becoming light early this morning. Wind becoming north 30 gusting to 50 this morning. Temperature falling to minus 4 this afternoon. Wind chill minus 9 this afternoon.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy. Wind north 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light early this evening. Low minus 10. Wind chill minus 8 this evening and minus 15 overnight.

Sunday: A mix of sun and cloud. 30 per cent chance of flurries late in the afternoon. Wind northwest 20 km/h. High minus 5. Wind chill minus 15 in the morning and minus 10 in the afternoon.

Monday: A mix of sun and cloud with 40 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 13.

Tuesday: A mix of sun and cloud. High minus 14.

Wednesday: A mix of sun and cloud. High minus 12.

Thursday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 5.
