Oh baby! Ontario invests $1.5M to help Windsor-Essex couples start a family

Ontario has invested $1.5 million into Victory Reproductive Care in Windsor, supporting families struggling to conceive.

The Ontario government is investing $1.5-million to help Windsor-Essex couples start a family.

The province is supporting in vitro fertilization cycles at Victory Reproductive Care.

“Fertility is a growing concern right now,” Dr. Rahi Victory said Monday. “We know that about one out of every six couples (are) infertile. So, this is a huge dilemma in the population. And so now this is really going to help us to solve that problem.”

Victory says the funding boost announced Monday, along with previous investments, means his clinic will be able to help more than 300 families in Windsor-Essex either expand or start a family.

The money will improve access to care and reduce wait times, according to the province.

“That will bring our wait time down to almost nothing, maximum a few months, six months, that kind of thing,” Victory says.

He also says it means couples will no longer have to travel to London for treatment.

“Every family deserves the chance to grow, and this investment shows our government’s commitment to making that dream a reality for more people in our community,” said Andrew Dowie, MPP for Windsor–Tecumseh is quoted in a provincial news release.

“By expanding access to fertility services close to home, we are easing the stress and reducing wait times for families who rely on this important support.”

“Our investment in these 25 clinics will help triple the number of families in Ontario benefiting from publicly funded fertility supports – further protecting public services,” Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health is quoted.

Of the overall investment of $250 million, $50 million for 2025-26 is estimated to fund an additional 5,000 IVF cycles across the 25 new and expanded clinics. The remaining $200 million investment will be allocated in 2026 to approved clinics for fiscal years 2026-27 and 2027-28.
