McKay Avenue fire quickly brought under control: WFRS

An upgraded fire in the 1700 block of McKay Avenue was quickly brought under control by firefighters Monday night.

According to District Chief Jack Bailey, crews responded to a unit of a semi-detached home. He noted flames could be seen coming out of the home.

The fire began in the basement, causing more than $200,000 in damage.

Twenty-nine firefighters attended the scene, clearing the building and extinguishing the flames in less than one hour.

Bailey noted a father and his three daughters were displaced as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire has been deemed accidental.
