A flood watch has been issued for parts of Chatham-Kent by the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA).

Heavy rains this week has led to high water levels. Friday and Saturday forecasts are also calling for another potential 35 to 40 millimetres of rain.

The LTVCA warns that Chatham and Thamesville could see water levels similar to those during the February 2018 flood. The 6th Street Dam is going to be activated.

Potential flooding could occur in basements along King Street backing on to the river, Siskind Court, William Street near Water, Salter Street, Thames Street around Pitt and Kent, and Pegley Court.

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) has issued a flood warning for Petrolia and Oil Springs area.

Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue Services will be patrolling flood prone areas to ensure community safety.
