Cold temperatures, flash freeze warning lifted

CTV Windsor Meteorologist Gary Archibald brings the latest weather update for Windsor-Essex.

The flash freeze warning that was issued for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent Thursday morning has been lifted.

Although the warning is no longer in place, Windsor is still seeing windy, cold temperatures, according to CTV Meteorologist Gary Archibald.

“Temperatures have fallen significantly,” Archibald said.

“We are fortunate that the heaviest bands of snow lie just to the south and southwest of us, and certainly to the north and northwest of us. Although, the north shores of Lake Erie did get some accumulations that were notable in and around Amherstburg, Kingsville, Leamington, and Pelee Island.”

Looking ahead to Friday, flurries are expected early in the morning.

Thursday: Flurries ending in the morning, then cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries, becoming a mix of sun and cloud in the afternoon. Around two centimetres of snow expected. Winds west 40 km/h up to 70 km/h. Temperature falling to -4 C, rising later in the day. Wind chill -12 C in the morning.

Thursday night: Clear. Wind west 20 km/h gusting up to 40 km/h. Low -2 C, wind chill -8 C overnight.

Friday: Mainly cloudy. 30 per cent chance of flurries in the morning. Wind west 20 km/h. High 4 C.

Friday night: Clearing. Low -5 C.

Saturday: Sunny. High 4 C.
