A man who was taken to hospital as part of a police-involved shooting in Windsor on Wednesday evening has died.

According to the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), a 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at hospital at 9:35 p.m.

The SIU said a man armed with a knife allegedly robbed a convenience store on Sandwich Street.

Police later found the man in the area of Rankin Avenue and Wyandotte Street where, “an interaction ensued,” and police used tasers, followed by two officers discharging their fierarms.

The man was struck and taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
