Police seize 8 guns from home in Lake Country, B.C.

Mounties seized eight guns from a home in the B.C. Interior Monday, following a report of a firearm being discharged in the area earlier this month.

Lake Country RCMP executed a search warrant at the home in the 12000 block of Shoreline Drive as part of their investigation of the earlier call, the detachment said in a news release Tuesday.

A photo included with the release shows the eight weapons—four handguns and four larger guns—that were seized, along with ammunition.

Police said the seizure included prohibited and restricted firearms.

The heavily armed Southeast District Emergency Response Team assisted with the execution of the warrant, police said, adding that the residence was unoccupied at the time and the investigation remains ongoing.

“The RCMP appreciate the public’s co-operation in staying out of the area and observing roadblocks, which enabled officers to execute the search warrant safely,” said Staff Sgt. Jon Collins, detachment commander for Lake Country RCMP, in the release.
