Richmond RCMP officer charged nearly 1 year after crash

A Richmond RCMP officer has been charged nearly a year after a crash that hospitalized five people.

Const. Beyond Xi has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, according to the BC Prosecution Service.

A release from the Independent Investigations Office at the time confirmed the incident happened at around 9:15 p.m. on July 7, 2025, when Xi collided with a Honda Ridgeline while responding to a call.

Xi was driving Eastbound on Williams Road when the officer collided with the pickup truck at the intersection of No. 4 Road, according to the IIO.

Investigators said two pedestrians and a resident of a neighbouring property were injured and added that everyone involved was hospitalized with “various injuries,” including the officer.

Prosecutors say the charges were approved on Friday, and Xi is scheduled to appear in court on August 4, 2026.
