Granville Street Bridge closed in both directions, police say

The Granville Street Bridge was closed in both directions at the beginning of Tuesday afternoon’s rush hour.

The Vancouver Police Department urged people to avoid the area and use alternate routes while authorities are on scene responding to an ongoing incident. The incident is not criminal, police said in a statement to CTV News.

TransLink buses on several routes were detoured, and people posting to social media reported gridlock on Burrard and Cambie streets due to the closure.

The VPD said updates on the bridge closure will be provided on its social media channels.
