The Abbotsford Police Department are appealing for witnesses after a female youth was assaulted in Downes Bowl Park.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a random sexual assault in an Abbotsford park Monday night.

A “female youth” was in Downes Bowl Park between 10 and 11:45 p.m. when an “unknown male” sexually assaulted her, the Abbotsford Police Department said in a media release Tuesday.

The suspect is described as between 15 and 20 years old, with dark skin, dark brown hair in a “bowl-cut” and a short beard. Police say he was wearing grey pants, a grey sweater and white shoes at the time of the alleged assault.

“The AbbyPD Sex Crimes Unit is in the preliminary stages of the investigation and believes this was a random incident. No suspect has been identified or arrested at this time,” the department said.

Anyone who was in the park at the time or who has information or dash-cam video is urged to call 604-859-5225.
