Whether you’re celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, the start of spring break or something else this weekend, there’s plenty to do around Vancouver. Here are some events you may want to check out.

BC Home and Garden Show

The BC Home and Garden Show is taking over BC Place stadium Thursday through Sunday, bringing more than 400 booths featuring home-related products and services.

The show also features local and international home professionals and TV personalities, with presentations happening on both a main stage and a cooking stage.

The show is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Information about tickets, participating vendors and presentations can be found on the event’s website.

Terminal City Table Top Convention

Across downtown at the Vancouver Convention Centre’s east building this weekend, fans of board and role-playing games will gather for the 11th annual Terminal City Tabletop Convention.

Described by organizers as Western Canada’s largest tabletop gaming convention, the event begins Friday and promises scheduled and drop-in board game sessions, an RPG room, dozens of vendors, special events and more.

More information can be found on the convention website.

CelticFest Vancouver

While the organizers of CelticFest are not planning a large downtown celebration for St. Patrick’s Day this year – citing reduced funding from traditional sources – they’ve still got a variety of events scheduled through Monday.

On tap this weekend are multiple concerts, comedy shows, a cooking demonstration and a “Family Day” at Famee Furlane, 2605 E. Pender St., from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Visit the CelticFest website for more information about each event.

Gem and jewelry show

Also happening in East Vancouver this weekend is the Hastings Centre Rockhounds club’s 64th annual gem and jewelry show.

Vendors and enthusiasts will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Hastings Community Centre, and organizers also promise “activities for children, refreshments, door prizes, demonstrations and displays.” Admission is by donation.

U Sports basketball championships

The top prizes in Canadian university basketball will be awarded this weekend at UBC, which is playing host to the 2025 U Sports championships.

It’s the first time a single university has hosted both the men’s and women’s tournaments at the same time, and organizers are excited about the event’s potential.

Games began Thursday and the tournaments will culminate with men’s and women’s finals on Sunday afternoon.
