A 54-year-old man is facing assault charges after an altercation at a Greater Victoria construction site Tuesday.

Online court records show Edward Alfred Joseph King has been charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.

West Shore RCMP did not name the suspect in a news release sent Wednesday.

The detachment said its officers were sent to the scene in the 1400 block of Langford’s Atlas Drive shortly before 7 a.m. for a report of an assault with a weapon.

When they arrived, officers learned there had been “an altercation” between two adult men, one of whom had allegedly assaulted the other with “an edged weapon,” police said.

They did not elaborate on the nature or seriousness of the assaulted man’s injuries.

Mounties arrested the suspect without further incident, and he appeared in court Tuesday to face the charges. He has since been released with “numerous conditions” and is scheduled to appear in court again on April 3, police said.
