Police are looking for an unknown number of suspects after a business in Whitby was shot at for the second time since late last week.

The latest incident happened on Sunday at around 7:50 near Hopkins Street and Nichol Avenue, just south of Dundas Street East.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said an employee was driving into the parking lot when several shots were fired at his vehicle and in the direction of the store. The worker was uninjured.

The suspects fled the area before police arrived.

Gunshots were previously fired at the same business on Jan. 22.

Police said officers at the scene found several bullet holes in the business’ front windows.

In security footage reviewed by investigators, a man is seen firing a handgun at the store at around 11:50 p.m. before driving away in a silver SUV. The store was closed at the time of that shooting and no injuries were reported.

Anyone with video or dashcam footage or information about either incident is asked to contact Det. Smith of DRPS’s West Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 1905, or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
